QUALITY TIME

Through shared play, you can rediscover the world through your child’s eyes while also strengthening your bond.

The first three years are crucial for your child’s brain development. During this period, their relationships and interactions with the world influence the strength of neural connections. The connections that are used most often become stronger, while those that are less used weaken.

It’s incredible how much these early, receptive years shape the foundation for growing into a healthy adult and succeeding in future endeavors.

Every skill has an optimal development window. Sensory pathways, including hearing, language, and higher cognitive functions, all reach their peak by the time your child turns three.

The Steps & Play method focuses on developmental windows and the power of repetition. We’ve created 12 age categories for the first three years, ensuring you always have age-appropriate tasks for your child.

To support repetition, we offer a range of activities, allowing each task to be completed in different ways.

With the help of our experts, we’ve developed the Steps & Play methodology step by step to support your child in acquiring skills at the most appropriate times. We’ve made complex research easy to digest and playful, so learning and spending time with your child can be pleasant, lighthearted, and fun.

On the Steps & Play platform, you’ll find over 600 activities presented in videos that can easily be incorporated into your daily routine. This way, you can optimally support your child’s intellectual and physical development during the time you spend together.

EVERY ACTIVITY ENHANCES AT LEAST ONE (AND OFTEN SEVERAL) OF THE FOLLOWING SKILL AREAS:

Sensory and Perceptual Development

All the information your child receives from the environment through sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell helps develop perceptual and attention skills. Responding to these stimuli creates more neural connections, which rapidly boosts cognitive growth. Engaging multiple senses during play promotes complex brain development.

Cognitive Development

This helps your child think, solve problems, and understand the world. For example, when placing the triangle in the right spot on a shape sorter or counting how many apples are left after eating some. As the brain and nervous system develop, your child begins to combine past experiences with new information to make the best choices in any situation.

Gross Motor Development

The development of the nervous system and motor skills are closely connected. From lifting their head to walking, as your child’s muscles strengthen, they reach essential milestones that later support successful learning. Activities like crawling, walking, running, jumping, and even riding a bike help lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

Fine Motor Development

Grasping objects, molding clay, and stringing beads strengthen the muscles in your child’s hands and fingers. Drawing, which enhances hand-eye coordination, helps them control hand movements with accuracy. These exercises will later support tasks like tying shoelaces and writing letters.

Communication and Language Development

The long-term benefits of storytelling and rhymes are significant. Sharing a bedtime story not only creates a sense of security but also helps expand vocabulary. This enhances comprehension and supports the ability to express thoughts, feelings, and needs, which are crucial for self-advocacy.

Social and Emotional Development

When your child comforts a crying friend or feels proud after building a tower with blocks, these are signs of emotional growth. They begin to understand and manage both their own emotions and those of others, helping them respond appropriately to different emotional cues. This will later support relationship-building and the development of empathy.

Independence and Self-Care Skills

There comes a time when they want to do everything on their own. By letting them dress themselves, zip their coat, or drink from a cup, you encourage their independence and self-reliance. These experiences are key to building confidence and fostering a sense of autonomy.
